CHET DOXAS TRIO

The Chet Doxas Trio with Jacob Sacks & Carmen Rothwell is a musical sandbox where Doxas’ compositions and these world class improvisers get the chance to play and discover new sonic territories together. Eminently imaginative in inspiration, construction and delivery, Doxas’ trio gels to create a varied emotional palette filled with wonder, humor and curiosity. “A truly personal work of art” – Downbeat Magazine

Raised in Montreal in a musical family, Chet Doxas’ love of music was fostered by his father (musician, teacher, recording engineer and producer), and his older brother, drummer Jim Doxas, with whom he regularly performs. Since its debut, Chet has led the Chet Doxas Trio showcasing his original compositions in a chamber-like aesthetic through the absence of drums and his band Rich in Symbols whose repertoire is informed by his love of the visual arts. He is also a member of the interdisciplinary composers and improvising ensemble, Landline. A collective whose compositional process is based on the game telephone.  Chet Doxas is a multiple Juno Award nominee, has appeared on over one hundred recordings, and has released eight albums as a leader and co-leader. He was recently voted to Downbeat Magazine‘s 2022 Rising Star Critic’s Poll in the tenor saxophone category.
