EVAN SHAY - Lancement d'album

Evan Shay is a saxophonist, producer, composer, photographer, and videographer based in Montreal, QC. Originally from Seattle, WA, he relocated to Montreal in 2010 where he completed his undergraduate and master’s degrees in jazz performance at McGill University. There, he studied with Remi Bolduc, Chet Doxas, John Hollenbeck, Chris McCann, and others.

His first solo release was in 2014, an EP entitled Homeward. In 2017, Evan was named one of the “35 Best Canadian Jazz Artists Under 35” by CBC Music. His band Lawful Citizen released a self-titled EP in 2017 and a full-length release Internal Combustion in 2018.

In 2019, Shay attended the Banff International Workshop in Jazz & Creative Music, where his identity as a producer truly began to take shape, learning from people such as HPRIZM, Vijay Iyer, Tyshawn Sorey, and Steve Lehman. On October 30, 2020, he released his first full-length solo release New Normal.
